Giant Green TRex is an expressive print exemplary of Markus’ practice and the all-consuming process of energetic color. The whimsical, verdant figure flows toward the edge of the print with a spiraling eye and scream reverberating up and out of the work. Movement and instability is echoed in the swift shadows of the dinosaur’s arms both at rest and outstretched, like the flowing green dripping from the bottom of the figure through the yellow, orange and red washes emanating from its form. The artist explores her ideas of origin and freedom through her series of TRex paintings and other points of interest, where her intuitive approach becomes palpable in the movement and freedom of her marks. The artist has hand-embellished the prints with painted flowers, making each piece a unique work.

ART FOR CHANGE will donate a portion of proceeds to the International Rescue Committee in support of humanitarian aid in the wake of the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey for the duration of 5 Years: An Art For Change Survey on view through March 25, 2023. As in all series, the artist will receive 50% of the net proceeds of print sales.
